Employee Discussion Hour
As a way to promote transparency and connection with one another, People & Culture launched Employee Discussion Hour this spring. What we learned:
- Q&A about possible outcomes of various MT Legislature bills, and a review of Session outcomes. Thank you to Dave Kuntz for joining us for a first-hand account of the action.
- Employees want the UM administration to understand the employee experience better. To this end, People & Culture partnered with Staff Senate to host staff focus groups on belonging, barriers, and employee support.
- When organizational change happens, it needs to be communicated broadly through a variety of ways. When we implement change, we need to think about all the people the change will affect and make sure they can access the new tools and information they need to excel at their work.
- Employees want more recognition. We are slowly building a culture where more frequent recognition becomes the norm. The Might of 猎奇重口 Award is one example of this.
Employee Discussion Hours are a way UM supports its people. These gatherings give employees a space to share ideas, concerns, and questions.
People & Culture will continue hosting these important opportunities to gather input, surface concerns, address them and communicate about them when possible. Check the next issue of Under the M for the schedule of future Employee Discussion Hours.

Enjoy UM's Natural Areas
Research shows that spending time in nature is good for our mental health. Lucky for us, UM's campus features access to incredible natural areas!
Hike the M trail on your lunch break, or explore the nature along the Bitterroot River and rich local history at Fort Missoula.
