Enjoy UM's Natural Areas
Explore Mount Sentinel and Fort Missoula
Research shows that spending time in nature is good for our mental health. Lucky for us, UM's campus features access to incredible natural areas!
Hike the M trail on your lunch break, or explore the nature along the Bitterroot River and rich local history at Fort Missoula.
Recreation Resources
Campus Recreation
Employees can join Campus Recreation for access to the fitness and recreation center, grizzly pool, fitness classes, personal training programs, indoor track, squash and racquetball courts, basketball courts, saunas, and climbing wall.
Outdoor Program
UM employees can participate in Outdoor Program trips, boating, camping, climbing, biking, and winter equipment rental, and bike/ski maintenance workshops. Class and rental fees are lower if you're a Campus Recreation member.
Grizzly Pool
You don't have to be an Olympic medalist to benefit from the Grizzly Pool! Open to Campus Recreation members and the general public, the Grizzly Pool boasts the only 25-yard competition pool in Missoula, plus rental lockers, a dry sauna, and a weight room designed specifically for swimmers' workouts.
The conservation lands around Missoula include 63 miles of natural trails. Visit the City of Missoula's trails map to find out where they are and the types of activities (walking/running, cycling, horse riding) they are intended for!
