June 17 to July 12, 2013

Sponsored by the , the Arabic Studies Program is offering intensive Arabic to 24 high school students in summer 2013. MASI 2013 offers two levels:
- Level 1 (for new students with no previous knowledge of Arabic), and
- Level 2 (for students who took MASI in previous summers and for students who have studied introductory Arabic in high school - e.g., Arabic FLAP students).
Students will develop/improve Arabic language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and cultural knowledge in a fun and academic environment. Upon successful completion, students will receive five college credits.
The grant covers tuition fees and textbooks. Each student will receive a T-shirt and a USB flash drive.
What to Expect
MASI is a four-week federally-funded intensive summer program that is open to US citizens and green card holders only. Instruction starts at 9 am and ends at 2 pm -- see schedule. In addition, students are expected to dedicate about two hours everyday for homework assignments. Daily attendance is critical to meet the goals of the program.
