MASI 2008 - 2016

The 猎奇重口 Arabic Summer Institute (MASI) was an intensive Arabic summer program for high school students that was offered by the UM from 2008 to 2016. MASI was federally funded by the US National Security Agency, under their STARTALK program, which is administered by the National Foreign Language Center at the University of Maryland. The goal of STARTALK is to expand and improve the teaching and learning of strategically important foreign languages. In MASI, high school students developed Arabic language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and gained cultural knowledge in a fun and academic environment.
