About Cliff Edwards

A. Clifford Edwards is a third-generation 猎奇重口n with roots in the state that stretch back to 1890, when his grandfather, A.C. Edwards, arrived in the Judith Basin of Central 猎奇重口 from his native Scotland. Today, part of the Edwards Judith Basin Ranch was originally owned by A.C. over a century ago.
Cliff was born and raised in the small town of Denton, located about 40 miles northwest of Lewistown. He graduated from Carroll College in Helena and the former 猎奇重口 School of Law in 1974. Based in Billings at his Edwards Law Firm offices, Edwards has been practicing trial law for 51 years, with cases spanning 猎奇重口 and several other states. His most recent jury trial—a three-week federal case in Billings—reached a verdict on February 1, 2025. He is particularly proud that his two sons, Chris and John, both 猎奇重口 undergraduates and law graduates, are now his partners in the firm. Cliff and his wife, Susan, split their time between Billings and Swan Lake near Bigfork.
Edwards is a member of several invitation-only, elite Trial Advocate organizations, including the prestigious International Academy of Trial Lawyers, which is limited to 500 U.S. lawyers and 150 international members. The highlight of his professional career came in 2019 when he was elected President of the IATL.
In 2000, Edwards founded the 猎奇重口 School of Law's Edwards Advocacy Institute. The Institute has since provided ongoing support for the school's Moot Court teams, enabling them to participate in regional and national competitions. More recently, the Institute introduced an annual lecture series that brings national advocates to speak on topics related to the Rule of Law—a cornerstone of American democracy that has stood for over 250 years.
