Curry Health Center offers a range of experiential learning opportunities designed to support student growth and professional development. Opportunities are available across our core service areas, Counseling, Wellbeing, Medical, Dental, and SARC (Student Advocacy Resource Center).

Become a SARC Advocate/Intern
SARC is proud to be a practicum site for UM graduate students from a number of departments. Interns with SARC provide advocacy to survivors of identity-based harm as well as outreach and education in our campus community. Practicum placement with SARC begins with recruitment in the spring for the following academic year. Interns work with us for one academic year (August-May), for 15-20 hours per week. Work in Wellbeing
Become a Wellbeing Support Coach
The Wellbeing Support Coach (WBSC) is a select student leadership role designed for 猎奇重口 students interested in promoting wellbeing and supporting their peers. This hands-on, pre-professional position provides practical experience in peer coaching, campus outreach, and wellbeing promotion.
Wellbeing Support Coaches provide goal-oriented peer support, help students build healthy habits related to stress, motivation, sleep, and overall wellbeing, and connect students to campus resources when additional support is needed. Coaches also contribute to campus outreach, wellbeing events, and collaborations with faculty and staff to promote a culture of wellbeing across UM.
This role provides valuable experience for students interested in careers in health promotion, counseling, public health, education, leadership, or student affairs. Wellbeing Support Coaches play an important role in strengthening a campus culture where students feel supported, connected, and equipped to thrive.
Work as a Wellbeing Office Assistant
The Wellbeing Office Assistant is a vital member of the Wellbeing Team, responsible for coordinating and promoting Peer Education programs. This role involves taking initiative in creating and implementing peer led programming in the areas of mental health and wellbeing, stress and resiliency, substance use prevention, healthy lifestyle and violence prevention; supporting outreach efforts, and assisting with department operations. Office Assistants provide essential health and wellbeing services to students and student groups.
Clinical Psychology Assistantships and Counseling Services Internship
Counseling Services at Curry Health Center provides behavioral and mental health care for 猎奇重口 students. Additionally, we are proud to offer high-quality clinical training experiences to University of 猎奇重口 graduate student interns.
Interns and assistants get experience providing individual and group counseling, administering assessments, documenting in an electronic health records system, collaborating with medical providers, and assisting in the facilitation of substance abuse intervention and treatment groups. All counseling interns and assistants will receive specialized training across a range of modalities and thorough individual supervision from licensed therapists.
There are multiple funding sources for this internship, so intern and assistant compensation will depend upon the funding source. All applicants (Ph.D. and master's students) are encouraged to apply for a funding stipend through the BHWET (Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training) Grant; Counseling Services is an approved site.
Clinical Psychology Assistantship
Eligibility
- Open to Clinical Psychology Ph.D. students
- Must have attained at least second year standing at the time of application
Position Overview
This assistantship provides supervised clinical training in individual and group psychotherapy with a diverse population of university students. The experience emphasizes brief treatment models and crisis intervention.
As part of their general clinical training, trainees will also gain experience addressing co-occurring disorders.
Qualifications
Preferred coursework includes:
- Psychological assessment
- Psychopathology
- Life-span development
- Psychotherapy theory and practice
Supervision & Training
Training and ongoing supervision are provided by licensed clinicians.
Time Commitment
- 19 hours per week
- Academic year appointment

Counseling Services Internship
Eligibility
Open to Master’s-level students in:
- Clinical Mental Health Counseling
- Master of Social Work
Time Commitment
- 18–20 hours per week (Some early evening hours may be required)
- Fall and Spring semesters
Internship Experience Includes
- Clinical work with a diverse client population
- Opportunity to co-facilitate a therapeutic group each semester
- Substance use intervention groups
