Awards
The UM Conference on Undergraduate Research (UMCUR), the Office of Undergraduate Research, and sponsoring units recognize remarkable performances and presentations. Projects are eligible to receive an award based on a student's project category and the award criteria. To be eligible for awards consideration, students must submit an abstract or artist's statement and present or perform at UMCUR.
UMCUR will present awards to the top presentations and performances from each of the five project categories (Humanities, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Social Sciences, and Visual and Performing Arts). New in 2025 are the additional award categories of Engaged Scholarship and Interdisciplinary Studies. To be considered for an award, students must select the appropriate awards box in ScholarWorks when registering by the deadline (TBD). For students interested in awards consideration, several committees, composed of faculty and staff members, will review abstract and artist's statement submissions to determine finalists from each project category. The authors of those top abstract and artist's statement submissions will then have their performances and presentations reviewed during the conference, using an evaluation rubric.
The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Library may share virtual versions of award-winning posters in the main library commons.
