This event is hosted by UM's Office of Sustainability and UM Housing, with proceeds from this event supporting UM’s Sustainability and Recycling Programs. Items not sold in the sale are donated to local thrift stores and nonprofit organizations.

2025 Campus Thrift Sale

Campus Thrift Volunteers Needed!
Campus Thrift Need-To-Know
-
COLLECTION will take place Wednesday, May 7, Thursday, May 8, Friday, May 9 (11:00 to 5:00), and the morning of Saturday, May 10 (9:00 to 12:00).
Collection sites for on-campus students include Jesse Hall, between Craig & Duniway Hall, and other dorm locations (map TBA).
Volunteers should expect to meet at 1 of our designated collection areas where items will be collected from students who have items to donate. We hope that our volunteers can accept most any item that is in reasonably good condition and can expect to be sold at our Campus Thrift Sale. Volunteers will be provided with a variety of boxes and can do some sorting of items on site. Volunteers must enforce our event policy to prevent the drop off of unusable items such as mattresses or furniture that cannot be easily moved or sold at the Campus Thrift Sale.
-
SETUP will take place Monday, May 12, and Tuesday, May 13, from 9:00 to 5:00.
Volunteers should expect to help us unload materials into Schreiber Gym on Monday morning and help sort the variety of items that have been donated to the event. Between Monday and Tuesday, we will transform the Schreiber Gym into a temporary sales floor for the sale on Wednesday. At this time, we will categorize items and apply prices to individual and groups of items.
-
SALE will take place on Wednesday, May 14, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The SALE will take place , the building to the south of the library along Campus Drive.
This event is open to the public and will be announced through many channels in the coming weeks.
Campus Thrift volunteers will be present to assist with crowd control, maintaining physical distancing, assisting customers who have questions, setting prices on miscellaneous items, working the cash register, general cleaning and upkeep, and helping to close the sale and load leftover materials for non-profit organizations after the sale has concluded.
-
Clothes, small appliances, bedding, home decor, fans, costumes, you name it! We will take it all.
We will NOT be accepting mattresses, couches, other large/heavy pieces of furniture, or hazardous materials.
