Flagship Fund Call for Proposals 2026
The UM Flagship Fund invests in initiatives and projects from the UM community that have the potential to translate UM's vision into action.
For UM to fully realize its vision of inclusive prosperity, we must work to amplify our strengths in areas where we have the potential for national distinction and clear differentiation. UM’s holistic approach to education—The 猎奇重口 Way—fuses academic excellence and career preparation with a deep commitment to human development, civic responsibility, and purposeful living. It reflects a bold, integrated approach to preparing students not just for careers, but for lives marked by wellbeing, healthy relationships, leadership, and service.
Last year, the Flagship Fund focused on civic thought, action, and leadership. This year, we invite proposals for one-year grants of up to $10,000 to promote wellbeing and healthy relationships.
Funding will be available for these projects in the 2026-2027 fiscal year.
Submission Guidelines and Deadlines
Proposals may be from individuals or teams in any sector for projects designed to promote wellbeing and healthy relationships. Projects may focus on any of the eight dimensions of wellbeing: physical, social, emotional, spiritual, environmental, intellectual, occupational, or financial, and they may further develop the uniquely human capacities of personal responsibility, empathy, and communication. Preference will be given to proposals that demonstrate cooperation across offices or areas of expertise and that benefit cohorts rather than individuals.
The deadline for submission of proposals is March 2, 2026. The Flagship Fund Advisory Group—a group of UM faculty, staff, and students—will meet with proposal authors in late March and early April to discuss the proposals submitted. The Advisory Group will make its recommendations to President Bodnar and Provost Lawrence by April 15, and leadership will finalize the decisions by May 1.
You will be asked to provide a narrative, a budget, and a preliminary plan for implementation.
