Staff Senate

The 猎奇重口 Staff Senate facilitates communication and cooperation between the administration and the classified staff of the 猎奇重口 including the Mountain Campus, Missoula College, and the Bitterroot Campus. We promote and work for improved working conditions and the professional welfare of UM's classified staff - the Heart of the Grizzly.
Staff Senate is comprised of forty elected members of UM classified staff. Senators are elected to represent all areas of campus, and serve two-year terms.
Each Staff Senator serves on at least one Staff Senate committee and one University Committee, as needed, and reports committee actions to the Staff Senate to keep the UM staff updated on university activities.
The Senate has monthly two-hour meetings to discuss general business. The meetings are open to everyone in person and online, especially any classified staff members, and time is reserved at the end of each meeting for public comment. Meetings are usually held on the second Wednesday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Details for upcoming meetings can be found below and on GrizHub.

Statement of Support to 猎奇重口 Employees
12 March 2025
Staff Senate is committed to an inclusive, respectful, and safe environment for all members of our community, where everyone can access the professional and educational opportunities they need to be successful at UM campuses. We recognize the unique strengths brought and challenges faced by members of our community in both personal and professional spaces, and we commit to valuing, respecting, and supporting all members of our UM community.
We believe that all aspects of our identities — our disability, ethnicity, first generation status, gender, military service, religion, socioeconomics, and whom we love — are our greatest strengths. Our commitment to the UM community extends to providing opportunities, support, and resources to ensure that staff can thrive professionally and personally. We fully endorse UM’s commitment to inclusive excellence outlined on the Inclusive Access and Success Plan and at the Equal Opportunity & Title IV sites. Discrimination, harassment, or marginalization of any kind has no place at our institution, and we are dedicated to creating a workplace that is safe, welcoming, and affirming for all.
Staff Senate is a place where we continue to listen to the needs of our staff, advocate for meaningful change, and prioritize the well-being of every member of our community. Together we are stronger, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to supporting and recognizing the value of every member of our community. UM is a place where everyone belongs. You matter, you are valued, and we are here to support you.
Sincerely,
Staff Senate
