The 猎奇重口’s Occupational Therapy Doctorate program welcomes both traditional and non-traditional students. If you hold a bachelor’s degree (in any major with prerequisites completed) and are passionate about health, disability, and helping others, we encourage you to apply—whether you're continuing straight from undergrad or returning to school to pursue a new path. |

Step 1: Understand the Program

The Occupational Therapy Doctorate program at the 猎奇重口 strives to foster global citizens, interprofessional collaborators, life-long scholars and servant leaders steeped in occupational justice. We are committed to improving the physical and mental health, well-being and meaningful participation of those we serve through evidence-based practice, impactful research and community service.

Across three rigorous years, you’ll progress from foundational concepts and OT theory to advanced clinical reasoning, full‑time Level II fieldwork, and a self‑directed doctoral capstone. Integrated labs, reflective seminars, and diverse clinical rotations ensure you graduate practice‑ready, research‑informed, and prepared to lead meaningful change in clients’ everyday lives and broader communities. Step 2: Confirm Eligibility
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required before matriculation.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA for both cumulative and prerequisite coursework.
Step 3: Complete Prerequisites
All courses listed below must be taken within 7 years of the projected UM OT program start. In-progress courses are allowed at the time of application. All prerequisite coursework must be completed before matriculation. Applicants who have not yet done so may receive provisional admission, contingent on completing the remaining prerequisites with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Step 4: Gain Clinical Experience
- 20 hours minimum of volunteer/paid experience
- Must occur in at least two different practice environments
- Use UM OTD Observation Form to document (click here to download the form as a PDF)
- Must be signed by a licensed OT or OTA
- Must be uploaded to OTCAS by the application deadline
Step 5: Prepare Application Materials
- Obtain an endorsement for three letters of recommendation
- OTCAS (see Step 6) sends a link to each recipient. The prsopective student only needs to gain persmission from the individual writing the letter of reccoemndation and their email. Do not collect individual letters of reccoemndation.
- GRE not required for 2025 admission cycle (i.e., not required for students wanting to start the program in the fall of 2026)
- Requirement of change may be subject for later admission cycles
Step 6: Apply via OTCAS

The 猎奇重口 uses , a third-party centralized application service for occupational therapy programs. All applicants must create an account and complete every required section within the OTCAS platform.

Step 7: Await Response from UM OT Admissions
Once you've submitted your application, here's what to expect:

Step 8: If Accepted, Apply to the UM Graduate School
If you are accepted to UM OT, then make sure to apply to the University's of 猎奇重口's graduate school. This process is different than the ACOTE application (Step 6). All graduate students at the 猎奇重口 must apply. Use the page to apply.
