What is the MPA?
The 猎奇重口’s MPA program stands apart as the only accredited Master of Public Administration program in the state of 猎奇重口 — a distinction that reflects our commitment to excellence, rigor, and meaningful public impact. When you choose UM, you’re choosing a program recognized for preparing principled, effective leaders ready to serve communities across 猎奇重口 and beyond.
Designed with both pre-career students and experienced professionals in mind, our curriculum offers the flexibility and relevance today’s public and nonprofit leaders need. Whether you’re launching your journey in public service or elevating your current role, our program meets you where you are and helps move you forward with confidence.
The MPA degree requires completion of 36 graduate credit hours (GCH) and culminates in a professional portfolio project and exit interview — an opportunity to showcase your skills, reflect on your growth, and demonstrate your readiness to lead. Students can complete the degree entirely online or through a combination of online and in-person courses, allowing you to balance your education with career and personal commitments.
Public administration is inherently interdisciplinary, and so is our approach. We collaborate with departments across campus to provide a well-rounded, forward-thinking education that integrates policy, management, leadership, finance, and community engagement. This cross-campus partnership ensures you graduate not only with knowledge, but with practical skills, professional connections, and the versatility to thrive in a wide range of public and nonprofit careers.
At UM, you’re not just earning a degree — you’re preparing to make a difference.
How do I take Classes?
Once admitted, you’ll receive your NetID and 790 number, unlocking access to the full range of 猎奇重口 resources. Think of this as your key to campus — from registration and academic tools to student services and support.
If you’re joining us as an online student, be sure to complete the distance learner form to ensure you’re fully connected and ready to go from wherever you are. All students should activate their UM email account right away — this is where important updates, opportunities, and program communications will be sent. You’ll also want to contact Curry Health Center to confirm that your medical records are current and accurate so there are no surprises later.
Next, schedule a meeting with the MPA Director to map out your degree plan. This is your opportunity to talk through your goals, interests, and career aspirations so we can help you chart a clear path forward.
Finally, head to GrizPortal to register for classes and officially build your first semester schedule. With each step, you’re moving closer to an exciting and rewarding graduate experience. We can’t wait to see what you accomplish!
When are Classes Offered?
The MPA program is built with flexibility in mind — and that starts with how we deliver our courses. Core classes are offered at least twice each year, with a strong emphasis on dynamic, high-quality online learning that allows you to stay connected and engaged from wherever you are.
Our online courses are intentionally designed to be interactive, accessible, and career-relevant — not just convenient. Through collaborative discussions, real-world projects, and direct engagement with faculty and peers, you’ll experience the same academic rigor and community connection as you would in person.
NASPAA Accreditation
The MPA program is accredited by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA) – the global standard in public service education. With over 300 institutional member schools — across the U.S. and in 28 countries — NASPAA is the recognized global accreditor for master’s degree programs in: public administration, public policy, public affairs, and nonprofit management.
