What is the I-House?

International House at UM

The International House is an accessible house located on the edge of campus used for international activities and events. It is a smoke-free and alcohol-free house, and a great place to make friends and share cultures. Any UM affiliate can reserve the I-House. 

The house contains a communal living space with a TV and musical equipment. This space is connected to a dining area, a full kitchen and an accessible bathroom. The I-House has been used to host Intercultural Lab events, Karaoke Nights, Global Partners meetings, holiday parties and cookouts! Regular events are hosted by ISS, International Students Association (ISA) and I-House Managers.

Who can use the I-House?

UM students, scholars, on-campus departments, student groups,  and community groups can reserve the I-House.

Community groups wishing to reserve the I-House should have some international connection/reason for using the house. Read more about the reservation process and the I-House policies.

To submit a reservation request, email international.house@umt.edu.

In your request, please include details of the event you'd like to host including the type of event, date, time slot and international/cultural connection.

Beth Schofield

I-House Manager
Hi! My name is Beth Schofield. I am an international student from Wales and started my PhD in History at the 猎奇重口 in Fall of 2025. I am excited to work with ISS through the I-House and to engage with students and community groups to encourage intercultural awareness, learning, and exchange!

Courtney Veno

I-House Manager
I am originally from Olean, New York and graduated from UM with a degree in Political Science in 2022. As of 2025, I am in my second year of Law School at the Alexander Blewett III School of Law. I have traveled around the United States and Puerto Rico and to Europe including 2 study abroad trips to Madrid, Spain and Cork, Ireland. I enjoy reading, crafts, and hanging out with my tuxedo cat Chansey.

Rachell Dykman

Hi!! I’m Rachell, an International House Manager here at UM. I’m studying International Business, Business Management, and Japanese. I love all things international and completed a 1-year study abroad in Tokyo, Japan in 2024-2025.

We are hiring I-House Managers for the AY 2026-2027!

Do you love event planning and fostering global connections within our international community? Come be an International House Manager for the upcoming academic year!

This position is a live-in position at the International House on the edge of campus. You must be a UM student to apply. 

I-House Managers are assigned to cooperate with ISS, international students, and community groups to facilitate programs and events that create opportunities for cross-cultural exchange!

Benefits include:

  • A single room with basic furniture and access to the I-House facilities. Rent, wifi and other utilities, and one parking spot is included in a $750 total monthly rent cost
  • $200/month stipend for 15hrs/month of work
  • House is close to UM Rec Center & stadium
  • Make friends from all over the world!
