Use of a calculator as a reasonable accommodation
Using a calculator can be a reasonable accommodation for students whose disabilities impact their mathematic computations.
ODE approves using a basic, four-function, non-graphing calculator for class assignments, quizzes, and exams.
While the use of a calculator may be an approved accommodation, it could be considered unreasonable if it fundamentally alters the essential objectives of the course. In such cases, faculty should promptly notify the student’s assigned ODE Access Consultant immediately upon receiving the request.
