Become part of our Camp Family
Our summer camps run throughout the summer providing active recreational experiences to campers who are entering K-6th grade. We are looking for individuals who will help bring our camp alive, who enjoy working outside and are passionate about the development of children. Our camp staff is a collective group of individual people with skill sets and interests that range from sports and outdoor recreation enthusiasts to individuals with music, craft, and art talents. It takes an eclectic group mindset to help our campers thrive all summer long, we need individuals will all sorts of interests, skills, and abilities. Truly the only common skill set of prerequisites among all camp staff is to keep the camper’s development, joy, and safety in mind at all times. If you are that person please apply!

Staff
Camp Director
The Camp Director ensures a safe, fun, and rewarding summer camp experience for the youth of our community and oversees all curriculum, risk management, personnel, and budgeting operations.
Taylor Calenberg
Taylor Calenberg is a Graduate of the 猎奇重口 with a degree in Health Enhancement. He has been working with Campus Recreation Youth Camps for 10 years, serving as a Camp Counselor, Assistant Director, and now as the Director. He grew up playing a variety of sports, including football, basketball, track and field, and also helped coach little guy wrestling. Taylor has a passion for working with the youth of our community and strives to help them grow as individuals and pique their interest in new activities! He is passionate about sports and organized extracurricular activities that help provide life skills such as teamwork, adaptability, emotional growth, and self-esteem. Taylor is married with 3 children, all of whom are passionate 猎奇重口 Griz fans. As a Camp Director, Taylor works hard to provide a safe and healthy environment for all of the youth camp campers and staff.

Assistant Directors
Assistant directors create the day-to-day camp curriculum, oversee counselors and ensure camp policies and risk management procedures are followed properly.
Sadie Forte
Sadie has graduated from the 猎奇重口 twice, with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Counselor Education. She is currently a School Counselor at Frenchtown Intermediate School. Go Broncs! Sadie grew up playing basketball, soccer, volleyball, and track in Olympia, Washington, and believes that sports can play a huge role in the cognitive and physical development of children. Sadie is passionate about working with children and operates with a growth mindset—we can work towards better versions of ourselves every single day! This is Sadie's fourth summer working with Campus Rec Youth Camps and she is very excited to be a part of this community, yet again!
Michael Van Atta
Michael graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology here at the 猎奇重口. He grew up in Billings, 猎奇重口, and has grown up playing a variety of sports, and outdoor hobbies. This will be Michael’s fifth summer at camps, as he has been a camp counselor for two and a half summers and an assistant director for one and half summers. During the school year of 2023, and 2024, Michael worked as a behavior technician for kids with autism, and enjoyed all of that work! He is excited to be an assistant director this summer and is eager to see the fun energy from everyone at camps again.
Lead Counselors
Lead Counselors assist in improving and expanding the existing curriculum, policies, guidelines, and procedures. Help ensure a safe and supportive environment for all staff and participants. Supervise and assist counselors throughout the camp day, assuring safety, smooth transitions, and successful activities.
Sarah Ashley
My name is Sarah Ashley, and this will be my fourth summer with Youth Camps! I just graduated from UM in December 2023 and will be heading to the Mayo Clinic for Physical Therapy school this coming fall. I played volleyball for the Griz and I love being able to continue to connect with the Missoula community through Youth Camps!
Blake Sowers
Blake Sowers is in his 3rd year at youth camps. He just graduated from the 猎奇重口 with a 4-year BFA acting degree and will be moving to Chicago at the end of the summer to pursue a career in acting.
Savannah Morgan
Savannah is a new graduate of 猎奇重口 State University’s Nursing Program. She will be a Pediatric Registered Nurse for Inpatient Rehabilitation this fall. She is originally from Sandpoint, Idaho where she developed her love for the outdoors and being a part of a community. Her summers involve hiking, camping, swimming, and spending time with friends and family. This will be her second summer at camp and she could not be more excited!
Oshi Hammond-Wegman
Oshi is in her third year at the 猎奇重口. She is majoring in English with a concentration in Education and is planning on teaching at a high school in the future. She enjoys creating art, gardening, being on the river, and hiking. Oshi has experience working with kids of all ages and her hope for the future is to inspire her students to expand their imaginations through writing and art. She was the assistant cheerleading coach at Hellgate High School for 3 years and plans on going back to coaching after graduating. Oshi was born in raised in beautiful Missoula and knows the best spots for enjoying the outdoors.
Counselor/Lead Counselors
These Counselors have experience with UM Youth Camps and are developing skills this summer to become Lead Counselors!
Anika Wypyszyk
Anika grew up just outside of Seattle Washington and now attends U of M. She is studying environmental science and will be finishing her junior year in the fall. When she is not with her friends or at school Anika loves spending time outside or crafting. She is looking forward to spending her summer working for Youth Camps and sharing her love of the outdoors and all things crafty!
Jessica Stanfield
Hi! My name is Jess, and I will be an incoming senior here at UM. I play softball for the Grizzlies, but in my free time I love to spend quality time with friends, go thrifting, float the river, go to the farmers market and so much more! I’m originally from a small town in Washington but am looking forward to a summer in 猎奇重口. This is my first year working with Campus Rec Youth Camps and am excited and grateful for the opportunity to work with kids and be active all summer.
Counselors
Counselors execute the camp curriculum and mentor, coach and provide a safe environment for all campers.
Brooke Ploot
Brook is a graduate of The 猎奇重口. During her free time, Brook enjoys spending time outdoors! She likes to hike, climb, ski, build Legos, and read a good book. She loves to work with kids and is excited to spend time outside all summer with the youth camps!
Alexis McWilliams
I graduated from UM in the spring of 2023 with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education. I will be finishing my second year of teaching. I grew up playing a variety of sports including volleyball, basketball, and swimming. In my free time I love to read, hike, play card and board games, and spend time with my family. I’m very excited to be back at summer camps this year!
Ramsey McCoskery
Ramsey is going to be a senior at the 猎奇重口 in the fall. She is majoring in elementary education, works at the ASUM Daycare, and babysits during school. She has also taught swim lessons at different beginner levels and has lots of experience with kids.
Hannah Gregory
Hannah graduated with her secondary English teaching degree from the 猎奇重口 and is currently working as a 5th grade teacher at Frenchtown. She grew up here in Missoula, 猎奇重口 as a competitive gymnast, and can often be found hand-standing during camp. In her free time, Hannah loves to go hiking with her dogs, spend time with her family, and read good books. She can’t wait for an amazing summer with the campers!
Kayla Ingraham
Kayla is a first year school counseling graduate student and recently graduated from the university with a bachelors in sociology, psychology and criminology. She is originally from Portland, Oregon and has been on the track and cross country team here for the past 4 years.
Millie Belcourt
My name is Millie Belcourt. I was born in Missoula, but moved to Las Vegas and grew up there. I’ve come back to 猎奇重口 though, and I’m now studying early education at the 猎奇重口. I’ve always loved being active, I played volleyball, basketball, track, and swam in high school. I still enjoy being active, but I also love reading books, laying out in the sun, and being by the river in my free time.
Jaren Smerker
Jaren is going to be a senior at the 猎奇重口 in the Fall and is majoring in Business Management. After graduating he wants to get his master’s degree in Sports Management and eventually become an athletic director at a university. He was born in Great Falls, 猎奇重口, and loves to do things like spend time with his friends and family, play games, and work out.
Caden Knight
Caden graduated this spring from the 猎奇重口, earning an Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology. Having enjoyed his experiences over the past two years with the staff and kids, he plans to return for a third year, dedicated to creating positive experiences and serving as an excellent mentor at camp. Outside of camp, you’ll find him biking, lifting weights, golfing, swimming, spending time with friends and family, and enjoying the sunshine!
Rachel Marvin
I was born and raised in Missoula and absolutely love it, summers more than winters. I love to be outside as much as I can, hiking, swimming, floating and just enjoying the sun. I’ve worked in Home healthcare for 7 years and love helping people. I volunteered at a summer camp during high school and loved it! I can’t wait to spend the summer doing so again and getting to know my fellow counselors and the campers!
Camren Zoet
My name is Camren Zoet and I am a junior here at the 猎奇重口 where I am majoring in Social Studies Broad-field in hopes of becoming a high school teacher. I am from Grand Rapids, Michigan and I grew up wrestling and playing baseball. I came to Missoula because of my love for the mountains and beauty the great state of 猎奇重口 has to offer. I enjoy spending time with friends, backpacking, kayaking, fly fishing and doing anything outdoors!
Hunter Vinson
I am a senior studying Communication Studies. In my free time, catch me in the gaming den or at Glacier Ice Rink working with ESPN for Griz Hockey.
Lindsey Gosse
I am originally from the north east coast and grew up at the beach. I’m still new to living in the mountains and love getting to explore all the outdoor adventures 猎奇重口 has to offer. I am majoring in early childhood education and have always loved working with children of any age, but especially preschool age. Along with working with kids, I love to read, cook, watch movies, and be outside swimming, hiking, and bike riding!
Emmi Kruhak
Hi! My name is Emmi Kruhak and I grew up in Marquette Michigan right on the shores of Lake Superior. I am a sophomore at UM, studying Integrative Physiology hoping to become a Physical Education teacher after I graduate. I am a big lover of the outdoors, I love to ski, snowboard, climb, camp, walk, hike, bike, swim, and generally just be outside. I came to Missoula for this reason, to get to be outside and experience the Western side of the country's nature, as compared to the Midwest. I am super excited to counsel this year, and overall get to be in Missoula again for the summer!
Brooke McWilliams
My name is Brooke McWilliams! I am currently a senior studying Elementary Education at the 猎奇重口. My hometown is Fairfield, MT, and I grew up participating in various sports such as swimming and volleyball. My hobbies include crafts, reading, playing board games, and spending time with my family and friends. I am so excited to meet all of the campers and have an amazing summer with them!
Sara Schoeffler
My name is Sara Schoeffler and I am so excited to return to camp this summer! I am a senior at UM getting my bachelors degree in elementary education. I am originally from Oregon but I now consider Missoula home. In my free time I love to run, hike, read, and spend time with friends.
Autumn Ploot
I grew up in Kalispell, MT spending a lot of time outside and with my family. I am studying art here at UM and heading into my 3rd year this fall. I’ve always loved to paint, draw, and clothes! I’m thinking of pursuing a career in interior design and creating spaces for people that they love! Things I like to do include camping, skiing, climbing, and spending time with friends. I’m excited to spend this summer outside having fun with the kids!
Jack Smart
My name is Jack Smart. I'm majoring in history. I've lived in Missoula 猎奇重口 my whole life.Whilst my major is in history it serves educational purposes. Sports have always been a part of my life growing up. The big ones being Hockey and Soccer. This is my first time working a camp job and I'm really excited for the opportunity.
Luke Pica
I am from Scranton, Pennsylvania. I am 20 years old and my pursuit and love for the outdoors helped me make my decision to come out to the 猎奇重口 to study Wildlife Biology. I have played almost every sport growing up but baseball was my favorite. My father raised me to be a great hunter and fisherman and the outdoors is where I call home!
Zachary Martinez
Hey, it’s Zachary. I was born and raised in Colorado, moved up here for school, and fell in love with the place. I enjoy everything outdoors, from hiking and biking to plenty of fishing. This is my second year working at camp, and I’m more than excited to return.
Audrey Burman
I am entering my senior year this fall, majoring in Social Work. I was born in Billings, 猎奇重口, and spent my childhood in Fairview, 猎奇重口. I have a diverse range of interests including basketball, volleyball, disc golf, crocheting, and music. I am particularly passionate about spending time outdoors, and since moving to Missoula 8 months ago, I have been thoroughly enjoying hiking in the mountains.
Zaraya Mannel
Hello I’m Zaraya Mannel. I’ve lived in Missoula 猎奇重口 my whole life and am blessed to be working with the University again this year. The kids are a true highlight to our days and we love exploring many new adventures. Some of my hobbies include fishing, hiking, camping, and much more outdoor activity. I’m stoked to be starting a new path of wild-land firefighting this year and continue to enjoy our awesome mountains. I'm eager to contribute to a fun and dynamic environment for the campers this year and fill this summer with lots of smiles!
Hi! My name is Sam LaRose, and I am a first-year graduate student in Athletic Training here at UM! I am originally from Boise, Idaho, but I came to Missoula for my education and a new adventure! In my free time, I love to stay active by hiking, paddleboarding, and playing most sports! I grew up playing soccer at a competitive level, but I enjoy learning new sports and staying active! I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity to work with kids and be active all summer.
Hi everyone! My name is Brianna Sofge, and I just graduated from UM with a Bachelor's in Psychology. This will be my first summer at camps, but usually, I'm back home in Vancouver, Washington, working with kids at a trampoline park and hosting birthday parties. I love being outside, floating, hiking, reading, trying new foods, going to concerts, and drinking coffee. I love anything Disney and any excuse to run around like a kid! I can't wait to meet you all this summer!
Javy Hamlin is a Parks, Tourism, and Recreation Management student at the 猎奇重口. Originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, he enjoys hiking, spending time outdoors, and staying active through sports. He currently plays hockey for the Griz and is passionate about recreation and team-driven environments. Javy is excited to spend the summer with Campus Rec!
My name is Morgen! I’m going into my third year at the university studying medical laboratory science. I have spent years working with kids in a camp setting and have had so much fun! My hobbies include sewing, sports, hiking, paddle boarding, yoga, and cooking! I love animals, especially dogs. I love learning new things and going on new adventures!
Hi! My name is Emma, and I grew up in British Columbia. I am on the Griz women’s soccer team, studying neuroscience, and will be a senior this fall! I love hiking, thrifting, spending time with family/ friends, and being outdoors. I am so excited to spend the summer outside having fun!
My name is Carter Pugh. I grew up in Seattle, Washington, and I’m going to be a junior here at the 猎奇重口. I’m currently seeking a degree in management information systems. I enjoy playing games with my friends, reading, watching movies, and going on hikes. I’m looking forward to being a counselor at Youth Camps over the summer!
My name is Sarah, and I am a history major with a main focus on antiquity and early medieval history. I have a cat named April that is my favorite thing. In my free time, I love to crochet and read and just relax with my cat. I grew up spending my time outside, from hiking with my family to hot air ballooning all summer.
My name is Katelyn Hauck! I'm from Billings, MT, but I frequently visited Missoula while growing up. I just finished my second year studying early childhood education at the 猎奇重口. Growing up, I played soccer, volleyball, and a little tennis. I enjoy running, hiking, reading, and spending time outdoors. I'm very excited to get to spend my summer in Missoula and working with kids!
