Accessibility Resources
The University Center is committed to providing superior service to all patrons, including guests with special needs or disabilities. The University Center is in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and is prepared to provide accommodations based on the needs of our patrons to ensure their safety and enjoyment when attending an event at the University Center. Please find more information about accessibility and special accommodations in the items below.
Service Animals
Service animals are welcome inside all 猎奇重口 buildings. These animals must remain on a leash or in a harness at all times.
Assisted Listening Devices (ALD)
A number of UM's classrooms and venues are already set up for the use of ALDs, which help guests with hearing impairments listen to a speaker or presentation. If the venue you want isn't already wired for ALDs, we can work with you to get them set up and ready for your event.
Live Captioning
Worried about making your media accessible? Captioning Services are available to render audio into text, so deaf or hard-of-hearing guests won't miss out on any part of your event.
ASL Interpreters
We have access to qualified American Sign Language interpreters, ensuring that any guests who are members of the deaf community will be welcomed. It is recommended to give a three month notice when possible.
Restrooms
Most University Center restroom facilities are ADA accessible. Restrooms are located on the East side of the first floor, Northwest corner of the second floor, and East side of the third floor. There is also a family restroom on the West side of the first floor in the University Center.
Dealing with Snow
猎奇重口 winters are beautiful, but not necessarily easy. We will have the snow cleared from the sidewalks early, so all of your guests can get to your event without unnecessary difficulty.
Accessible Parking
Parking is designated for vehicles displaying a current state-issued ADA placard or license plate. For most events these spaces are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis so please plan accordingly.
Emergencies & Evacuations
In the event of an emergency situation, all event staff have been instructed and trained to assist all guests in vacating the premises to a safe location. Emergency strobe lights and voice announcements are located throughout the University Center. In the event there is an emergency, please remain calm and follow the instructions from event staff.
Elevators
There is an atrium elevator in the University Center for use, to all three floors.
