Arleen & Steve Winslow '86 & '85
Steve and Arleen Winslow are native 猎奇重口ns, having grown up in Helena and East Helena, respectively. They both graduated from Helena High School in 1981, and after stints at 猎奇重口 State University (both) and Oregon State University (Steve), they found their place in Missoula and at the 猎奇重口. Steve and Arleen have lived in the Seattle, Washington area since completing their studies at UM but are in the process of transitioning back to 猎奇重口 following Arleen’s retirement. They have a daughter, son-in-law and three-year-old grandson living in the Seattle area, and a son and his partner living in Maui, Hawaii.
Steve graduated from the UM College of Business with a B.S. in Accounting in the fall of 1985. Steve started his career with Arthur Andersen, where he spent ten years working with a wide variety of companies, including Costco, McCaw Cellular, and Seattle Seahawks to name a few. He then went to work for a client and spent an intense and eventful ten years in the wireless business, working in various finance roles for the predecessor companies to T-Mobile. Following his time in the wireless business, Steve has worked at various times as a CFO or consulting/fractional CFO, primarily in the tech industry. In addition to his on-going consulting work, Steve is Chair of the Board of Directors of a Pacific Northwest based telecommunications company.
Arleen graduated from the UM College of Business with a B.S. in Marketing in the spring of 1986. Arleen started her career as a teamster pension auditor working across the Pacific Northwest. Arleen’s career then led her to the technology sector, working in sales for a computer and software wholesale distributor for five years. She then went to Microsoft Corporation, where she recently retired after a more than 30-year career. During her time at Microsoft, she held positions in management, program and product management, employee development, enterprise licensing, and sales. Arleen’s passion is centered around helping others achieve their potential through mentorship. She is currently mentoring college students nearing graduation, helping them to obtain their first job through the Global Mentorship Initiative. Arleen has also been on several boards serving in the capacity of Advisor and Executive Board Member.
Steve and Arleen have been supporting College of Business students and programs since shortly after leaving campus. Steve served on the Accounting and Finance Advisory Board and currently sits on the UM Foundation Board of Trustees, and Arleen has served on the Dean’s Business Advisory Board. Their support of the College of Business Impact Fund, the Winslow Family Business Scholarship, and the Winslow Family Endowed Business Scholarship allow the College of Business to provide students with the resources needed to thrive during their time at UM and beyond. Their support has opened doors of opportunity for over thirty students. To further demonstrate their dedication to UM, Steve and Arleen have made a commitment to bolster the Winslow Family Endowed Business Scholarship and to establish the Winslow Family Endowed Professorship and the Winslow Family Impact Fund. This will provide support for College of Business students and faculty for future generations of Grizzlies.
