A Bird's Eye View of Avian Ecology
The UM Bird Ecology Lab contributes to the knowledge of avian ecology through a combination of original research, long-term and ecological effects monitoring, education, and community engagement.
Our passionate scientists seek out the best available protocols, field techniques, and data analysis methods to assess ecosystems in a rapidly changing world. We are committed to research with practical applications and that is interpretable by professionals and community members alike.
Student Opportunities
Through our state-wide networks, we offer UM students opportunities to learn about and participate in avian research with wide-reaching applications. We provide education, including demonstrations, that strengthen how students think about bird ecology, and we prioritize engagement with undergrad and graduate students researchers to bolster UM's contributions to the field of avian science, as well as learning outcomes for students. We value making our research known, and work to publish findings and insights often.
