UM Pre-College

  • For residential students, it includes the course fee, housing, all meals, all weekday and weekend activities, and full campus immersion. Additionally, if needed, transportation is provided between campus and the Missoula 猎奇重口 Airport (MSO) on July 6 and/or July 17.

    For commuter students, it includes the course fee, daily lunch and afternoon activities.

  • Limited $750 scholarships for residential students and $375 scholarships for commuter students are available. To be considered for the scholarship, students need to:

    1. Apply to the Summer Exploration program.

    2. Email Becka Simons at becka.simons@mso.umt.edu to confirm that you would like your name added to the list. 

    3. Recipients will be notified via e-mail along with their Summer Exploration application decision. 

  • Air Travel:

     is about 10 minutes from campus and is served by the following airlines: Alaska, Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, Sun Country and United.

    Driving:

    The  has driving directions to the 猎奇重口 campus.

  • While on campus, you will live in a double-occupancy dorm room in University Housing.

  • 8:00AM: Breakfast in UM's Food Zoo

    9:00AM-12:00PM: Class (weekdays) 

    12:00-1:30PM: Lunch | Free Time

    2:00-3:00PM: Study Hall (weekdays) 

    3:00-5:00PM: Afternoon activity*

    5:00-6:30PM: Dinner

    6:30-8:00PM: Evening activity* 

    8:00-10:00PM: Free Time | Study Time

    10:00PM: Students expected to be back in dorm rooms, quiet hours begin

    *This schedule is approximate and will change according to days of the week, class times, and afternoon and evening activities. Afternoon and evening activities will include a variety of field trips and excursions, team building exercises, and college prep, as well as on campus exploration.

  • While on campus, students will eat in The Lodge Dining Center. We will collect detailed dietary information from students before the program begins to ensure that meals accommodate all allergies and other dietary restrictions.

  • Summer in Missoula and surrounding areas in July average at 75 to 88 degrees Fahrenheit as a high and 40 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit as a low. These temperature changes from day to night can often require layered clothing. Please know that we have tried to include all the big items that you may need while staying with us, but do not forget to think about what makes you most comfortable and what you need for travel, study, and fun. This lists are only recommendations, not requirements. 

    • 5-6 t-shirts or casual shirts
    • 4-5 pairs shorts/casual skirts/jeans/khakis 
    • 1-2 sweatshirts/sweaters/jackets
    • 1 nicer outfit for the closing showcase and dinner on Friday, 7/18 (polo shirt/button down/blouse and slacks/khakis/skirt or dress)
    • 1-2 pairs of athletic wear
    • Bathing suit (swimwear) for water activities 
    • Socks & underwear
    • Pajamas
    • Comfortable walking shoes (closed toe) 
    • Flip flops / shower sandals 
    • Shoes or sandals you can get wet
    • Toiletries
    • Backpack
    • Photos of friends and family
    • Laundry bag
    • Phone + charger
    • Notebooks and pens
    • Books, magazines, playing cards, etc.
    • Alarm clock
    • Photo ID
    • Spending money for incidentals and optional, non-program activities
    • Any medications that you need 
    • Windbreaker/waterproof jacket and/or Umbrella (it almost never rains in Missoula in July) 

    PLEASE NOTE that regardless of which course you are taking, below are some items that should be left at home:

    • Cars (if you are a residential student) 
    • Expensive jewelry (and other valuables)
    • Large amounts of money
    • Knives or any other weapons
    • Toaster ovens, candles, incense, hotplates or burners, or any other open flames. These are all fire hazards and not permitted.
    • Animals of any kind
