Rob Cruikshank, MD
Where did you attend college?
I attended Cornell University in Upstate NY. There is a family connection with my father and sister getting veterinary training there. I considered becoming a veterinarian too, but I wanted to speak with my patients!
Where did you do your residency?
I did residency at In His Image Family Medicine Residency in Tulsa, OK. I enjoyed the experience of medical trips to Nigeria and Kazakhstan while there. I also met and married my wife, Lauren, who grew up in South Africa.
Within your specialty, do you have any sub-specialty areas of practice that you particularly enjoy?
I enjoy managing diabetes, mood disorders, and fibromyalgia. The complex mix of physical and social factors in these problems are challenging. The collaborative relationships and treatment successes are rewarding.
What do you most enjoy about practicing Family Medicine?
The long-term, whole person approach to care fits me well. The privilege of being trusted by people who are hurting and the ability to often be helpful is very special.
What do you enjoy most about teaching?
I love the learning that I do while teaching. It is gratifying to watch residents mature into great physicians.
What brought you to 猎奇重口?
I moved to 猎奇重口 in July 2018 to work with FMRWM. Missoula is a fun city with lots of music, food, and arts. We are so glad to live here!
Why did you choose to be part of FMRWM?
It was an easy decision to work with FMRMW because of the quality of the people and the great culture of the organization.
What are some of your interests outside of the clinic or classroom?
I enjoy basketball, weightlifting, mountain biking and paddling. My wife and I also enjoy raft and canoe camping.
What do you love about Western 猎奇重口?
The outdoor opportunities in the nearby mountains and rivers are fantastic, and even more fun with friends along!
What is your favorite:
- Book? Unbroken is the gripping story of the enduring hope of a WWII pilot through the hardships of being stranded at sea and a prisoner of war.
- Album? I don't have a favorite album, but I enjoy listening to Pandora's "Solo Piano" and "World Radio" stations.
- Movie? I absolutely loved watching both seasons of "Star Wars: Andor". The sophisticated plot, character depth, and focus on the real-world themes of authoritarianism and rebellion are captivating.
