UM Student Leads Afro-Brazilian Class
After Brazil native Julia Duarte completed her junior project at UM that explored how Afro-Brazilian movements look on dancers trained in the U.S., faculty members asked her to expand her lessons into a semester-long, for-credit class. Duarte was ecstatic about the opportunity. Leading a class of 20-plus students with varying dance expertise and different styles of learning was a joyful challenge that solidified Duarte’s desire to continue teaching.
